The device was released with the Android Jellybean v4.2 Operating System, and it is backed with a Mediatek MT6572 Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processor, with the GPU being powered by Mali-400 chipset. The BLU Advance 4.0 comes with an internal storage of 4 GB for installing applications and 512 MB of RAM for running applications and multi-tasking between them. The memory is expandable up to 32 GB via the use of an external MicroSD card for installing media items such as videos, audios etc. The phone is packed with a Li-ion 1600 mAh capacity battery for a prolonged battery life, and can provide upto 700 hours standby time on 2G, and 500 hours standby time on 3G.

The screen size of the unlocked cellphone is 4.0 Inches, and it is a LCD capacitive display panel with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, with a pixel per inch density of 233. The dimensions of the unlocked cellphone are 125 x 65 x 12.4 mm, and its weight is around 124 grams.
The BLU Advance 4.0 features a 5 MP rear camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution 2592 õ 1944 pixels. The camera of the device is decent, and it captures fine amount of details. It can also record videos of 720p at 30fps. There is a secondary VGA front-facing camera available in the device.
