The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua was released in the month of September in 2014. It was a mid-segment device, and was the first budget phone by Sony to introduce water-resistant glass. Sony claims that they have used one of their best waterproof technologies in the device, and the unlocked cellphone can withstand water immersion up to that of 1 meter. It is also claimed to contain the highest dust proof rating.

The phone was released with Android Kitkat v4.4.2, with a planned upgrade to Android Lollipop v5.0, and it is powered by a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor, with the chipset being Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. The graphics of the phone are being powered by Adreno 305. The phone is packed with a Li-ion 2300 mAh Non-removable battery for a longer battery life. The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua consists of a 1 GB of RAM, with an internal storage of 8 GB. The storage is expandable to 32 GB via the use of an external MicroSD card.
