The Nokia 220 was released in 2014 in the month of February. The device was released as a low segment budget device. It targeted the audience, which were not yet familiar or comfortable with the bigger screened smartphones. The phone supports basic functions such as calling, messaging, browsing internet, listening radio etc.

The device runs on the basic Java operating system. The Nokia 220 is capable of storing up to 500 phone entries. The memory is expandable up to 32 GB via the use of an external SD card for installing media such as audio, video etc. The phone is packed with a Li-ion 1100 mAh capacity battery for a prolonged battery life offering a standby time of 696 hours.

The screen size of the unlocked cellphone is 2.4 Inches, and it is a TFT capacitive display panel with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, with a pixel per inch density of 167. The phone supports the basic typing keypad. The dimensions of the unlocked cellphone are 124 x 55.5 x 10.4 mm, and its weight is around 83.6 grams.
The Nokia 220 features a 2 MP rear camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution 1600 x 1200 pixels. The camera of the device is fine, and it works decently in sufficient light places. It can also record videos of 320p at 15 frames per second. There is no secondary front-facing camera available in the device for clicking selfies and recording videos.
