The device was released with the Android Eclair v2.1 Operating System, upgradeable to Gingerbread v2.3.6, with the HTC Sense UI running on top of it. It is backed with a Qualcomm Snaprdragon S1 1 GHz Scorpion processor. The HTC Google Nexus One comes with an internal storage of 512 MB for installing applications and 512 MB of RAM for running applications and multi-tasking between them. The memory is expandable up to 32 GB via the use of an external SD card for installing media such as audio, video etc. The phone is packed with a Li-ion 1400 mAh capacity battery for a prolonged battery life.

The screen size of the unlocked cellphone is 3.7 Inches, and it is a TFT capacitive display panel with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, with a pixel per inch density of 252. The dimensions of the unlocked cellphone are 119 x 59.8 x 11.5 mm, and its weight is around 130 grams.
The HTC Google Nexus One features a 5 MP rear camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution 2560 x 1920 pixels. The camera of the device is great, and it captures fine amount of details. It can also record videos of 480p at 24fps. There is no secondary front-facing camera available in the device for clicking selfies and recording videos.
