The device was released with Android Lollipop v5.0 OS, further upgradeable to Marshmallow v6.0. The Google Nexus 5 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset, while the processor is Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400. The graphical processing unit of the device is powered by Adreno 330. The device has an internal storage of 16/32 GB for installing applications and 2 GB of RAM for running applications. There is no MicroSD slot available for expanding the storage for installing additional media, such as video or audio. The phone is packed with a Li-ion 2300 mAh capacity battery for a prolonged battery life.

Camera
The Google Nexus 5 features an 8 MP rear camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera of the device is good, and is able to capture fine amount of details. It can also record videos of 1080p at 30 fps. There is a secondary 1.3 MP front-facing camera available in the device for clicking selfies and recording videos.
