The Sony Xperia SP was released in the month of March in 2013. It picked up various features frot its ore powerful cousin, the Xperia Z1. The design of the phones greatly matched each other, and the Xperia SP revived the mid-segment line of the company.
Software & Hardware
The device was released with the Android Jellybean v4.1, which is upgradeable to Android Jellybean v4.3, and is packed with a Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro. The Adreno 305 chipset powers the Graphic Processing Unit of the unlocked cellphone. The Sony Xperia SP features 1 GB of RAM for running apps, with an internal storage of 8 GB, however, only 5.8 out of this is usable by the user for installing applications. The memory is further expandable via the use of an external SD card, and can be expanded up to 32 GB.
Design & Display
The screen size of the unlocked cellphone 4.6 Inches, and it is a TFT capacitive display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, making it an HD screen, with a pixel per inch density of 319. The dimensions of the phone are 130.6 x 67.1 x 10 mm, weighing around 155 grams.
The Sony Xperia SP features an 8 MP rear camera, capable of clicking photographs of resolution 3264 x 2448 pixels. The shots clicked from the unlocked cellphone come out pretty fine, and most of the details are captured. It can also record videos of 1080p at 30fps. A secondary VGA camera is also present in the device.
