Software & Hardware
The unlocked tablet operates on BlackBerry OS 10. BlackBerry PlayBook 2012 is based on Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 chipset. Tablet hardware includes a powerful Dual-core 1.5 GHz processor. The tablet comes with 1GB RAM. The tablet comes in 16\32\64GB versions. It has no microSD card slot. Both the locked and unlocked versions support connecting through Wi-Fi. This tablet has common features like Bluetooth, Wi-fi and A-GPS. The tablet packs a 4800 mAh Li-ion battery. The tablet does not have cellular connectivity therefore, it doesn’t come with a SIM slot. The tablet also packs various sensors such as accelerometer and gyro scope. A microUSB port is present for charging and PC connection.
Display & Design
It is available in black color.
The tablet has dimensions 194 by 130 by 10mm. The 7-inch display packs a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels giving the display an approximate 170 ppi pixel density. The TFT capacitive touchscreen display is capable of producing 16 million colors. The multi touch feature is also present.
BlackBerry PlayBook 2012 packs a primary 5-megapixel camera capable of taking 2592 x 1944 pixel snaps. The camera packs additional features such as geo tagging, face detection and touch to focus. Panaroma and HDR are also welcome features of this camera. It will be unfair not to mention autofocus capabilities of camera.
Camera is also capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps.
Playbook also comes with a secondary 3MP camera also capable of 1080p recording.
